The Giraffe Tools Retractable Extension Cord Reel is a spring-driven auto-rewind cord reel with 180° swivel mount, 3 LED-lit power outlets, built-in circuit breaker, and slow-retraction auto-guide system — constructed from impact-resistant polypropylene with a metal bracket. Choosing Your AWG — Matching Wire Gauge to Your Tools
AWG (American Wire Gauge) determines how much current the cord can safely carry. Lower AWG = thicker wire = higher amperage capacity. Exceeding the amperage rating causes the cord to overheat — the circuit breaker will trip, but repeated overloading degrades the cord over time.
- 16AWG / 8A — 40ft: Light-duty tools — drills, sanders, small grinders, shop lights, battery chargers. Not suitable for table saws, air compressors, or other high-draw equipment.
